On October 18, our school and the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council (VTC) signed the Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation in Talent Training in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering online. This cooperation aims to strengthen educational cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the flow and integration of talents, relying on the policy support of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Planning Outline.
At the signing ceremony, Lin Zishan, Deputy Academic Director of Engineering of the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Education (IVE) under the jurisdiction of the Hong Kong Vocational Training Authority (VTC), and Yang Xiaodong, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of our school, signed a memorandum of cooperation on behalf of both parties.
Yang Xiaodong said that the school has always aimed to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents to adapt to the needs of the new era. This cooperation with the Hong Kong Vocational Training Bureau is an important measure for the school to further deepen vocational education reform and improve the quality of teaching. The two sides will work together not only to carry out in-depth cooperation in curriculum co-construction, resource sharing and other aspects, but also to provide a broader development platform for students through teacher-student exchanges, internship and practical training and other activities.
Lin Zishan said that it was a great honor to work with Shun Vocational College to promote this important cooperation. The Hong Kong Vocational Training Bureau has always been committed to providing vocational education that meets the needs of industry development, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science. Through this cooperation, the two sides will jointly cultivate high-quality engineering and technical talents with international vision, and contribute to scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and even the world.
According to the content of the memorandum, the two sides intend to jointly cultivate high-quality engineering and technical talents with international vision and mastering cutting-edge scientific and technological knowledge through various forms such as joint construction of courses, teacher exchange, resource sharing, mutual recognition of credits and internship and practical training cooperation.
The two sides will set up a cooperation leading group and hold regular joint working meetings. And it is planned to hold special seminars and workshops regularly to share the latest research results and best practice cases; carry out academic exchanges and short-term training activities between teachers and students; set up special training projects to improve the application and innovation ability of teachers and students in the field of emerging technologies; and jointly expand internship bases, scientific research platforms, etc. Resources to provide students with more practical opportunities.
This cooperation will also support the implementation of the joint training program under the Vocational Graduates Stay in Hong Kong Program (VPAS), which aims to attract qualified non-local students to Hong Kong for further study and allow them to apply for work in Hong Kong after completing their studies. This will further enhance Hong Kong's status as a regional education center and send more high-quality talents to local related industries.
