The "International Training on Good Practices of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with New Refrigerants" was Held by the Major of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology
2025-01-08 18:10
From January 7th to 8th, the major of refrigeration and air conditioning technology of our school held the "International Training on Good Practices of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with New Refrigerants" jointly organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the Chinese Association of Refrigeration. 18 personnel from the refrigeration and air conditioning industry of 12 "Belt and Road Initiative" countries, including Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, participated in the training. The purpose of this training is to enable international peers in the refrigeration industry to have a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics, operation specifications, and safety precautions of new refrigerants such as R32 and R290, and further enhance the environmental protection awareness and technical level of the international refrigeration industry.

Elisa Giyeon Rim, an official of the United Nations Environment Programme, Director Hua Xue of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Gao Enyuan, Minister of the Chinese Association of Refrigeration, and Luo Dan, Vice President of our school, attended the opening ceremony. Luo Dan pointed out that this international refrigeration training is the best manifestation of the professional education strength, and hopes that the refrigeration major can explore a new path in internationalization construction.

As the world's largest production and consumption base of refrigeration equipment, China's refrigeration service industry has developed rapidly. Since 2010, China has implemented the Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) phase-out plan in the air conditioning refrigerant production industry and the refrigeration service industry, and has been committed to promoting zero-Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low-Global Warming Potential (GWP) alternative technologies and service skills from the very beginning. These action plans aim to reduce the emission and leakage of refrigerants and improve the ecological protection measures of the refrigeration industry. At the same time, China actively participates in the cooperation and exchanges in the refrigeration industry in the Asia-Pacific region and globally, and promotes the sharing of experience in refrigerant alternative technologies and service skills.

This training was carried out at the "Midea International Refrigeration Technology Training Center" of our school. The content covered the theoretical knowledge and practical operation skills of the application of new refrigerants. The whole training was conducted in English. Dr. Lin Bo of our school gave a detailed explanation and sharing on "International Law for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, relevant policies and regulations on alternative refrigerants, the trend of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) refrigerant replacement, the basic knowledge and safe use specifications of new alternative refrigerants R290 and R32". The training also invited Zhang Ming, General Manager of Guangdong Weijin Intelligent Environment Technology Co., Ltd., a member unit of the Refrigeration Community, to share industry experience in the practical operation part of the installation and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning systems with new refrigerants.

The major of refrigeration and air conditioning technology of our school took the lead in formulating the industry standard: Construction Specifications for Training Venues and Facilities for the Maintenance of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipment Using Flammable or High-pressure Refrigerants. The purpose is to guide the standardized and orderly development of relevant vocational training, reduce potential safety hazards, and support the promotion of alternative technologies in the manufacturing industry. This training provided a comprehensive and in-depth interpretation of this standard, achieving remarkable results. Through this international platform, the international influence of the major of refrigeration and air conditioning technology in the field of standards has been greatly enhanced, injecting new vitality into the standardized development of the global refrigeration industry. Professor He Qinbo of the major of refrigeration and air conditioning technology also shared the curriculum system setting of the refrigeration major on site.

After the training, the trainees visited the Guangdong-Aachen Industry 4.0 Application Research Center and the training rooms of the Culinary College of our school.

The relevant person in charge of the School of Energy and Automotive Engineering said that this training is one of the important measures taken by the United Nations Environment Programme to promote the development of environmentally friendly refrigeration technology globally. In the future, the major of refrigeration and air conditioning technology will continue to explore international cooperation to jointly promote the sustainable development of the refrigeration industry.
