On March 27, with the support of the Shunde District United Front Work Department and the Shunde Overseas Chinese Federation, our university's "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" Cambodia Base was officially established through a signing and unveiling ceremony at Lesso Group (Cambodia) Technology Industrial Co., Ltd.

School Party Committee Member and Vice President Yang Xiaodong, President Kieng Rotona of the University of Western Cambodia, and General Manager Wu Ziyang of Lesso Group Cambodia Technology Co., Ltd. attended the event.

To promote the development of Sino-foreign vocational education cooperation projects and establish an international vocational education brand with Guangdong characteristics, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education has actively planned and advanced the construction of the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic."

On November 15 last year, during the 2024 annual event of the Guangdong "Belt and Road" Vocational Education Alliance, 12 institutions, including Shunde Polytechnic, were selected as the first batch of "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" construction units in Guangdong.

The Cambodia Base of "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" will fully integrate the advantageous resources of all parties. In collaboration with institutions such as the Cambodia Foshan Chamber of Commerce and Foshan Simairaya Cambodia Trade Center, it will adopt an innovative "vocational skills training + cultural exchange" operational model, with a focus on serving international industrial cooperation. On one hand, the Cambodia Base will precisely address the practical needs of Chinese enterprises in Cambodia regarding technical-skills talent and technological cooperation. By exporting Shunde Polytechnic's advanced professional standards, curriculum systems, teaching resources, and equipment—along with conducting overseas teaching and practical training activities—it will deepen faculty exchanges and school-enterprise collaboration. This initiative aims to cultivate local talent with both solid technical expertise and a global perspective, thereby strengthening the talent foundation for the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises in Cambodia. On the other hand, the Base will establish a cross-border commerce exchange platform connecting Cambodia and Foshan. It will regularly organize talent exchanges, technical seminars, industry connecting events, and other activities to facilitate seamless trade and business cooperation between the two regions, further deepening collaboration in commodities and commercial sectors.

Going forward, our school will work with all stakeholders to develop the base into a hub for sharing vocational education standards, a service nexus for Chinese enterprises in Cambodia, and a leading platform for commercial exchanges. This endeavor will establish the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" as an exemplary model of Guangdong's vocational education on the global stage, while further contributing Shunde Polytechnic's expertise to the high-quality joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

At the same day, our university, Western University of Cambodia, and Lesso Group (Cambodia) Technology Industrial Co., Ltd. signed an agreement in Cambodia to jointly establish the "Overseas Engineering Technology Polytechnic."

The collaborative establishment of the "Overseas Engineering Technology Polytechnic" follows a tripartite cooperation framework of "national strategy guidance – industry demand traction – resource system export," where all parties fully leverage their respective strengths to create a tightly integrated synergy. Our university contributes its rich vocational education resources to undertake curriculum design and faculty training, while Western University of Cambodia and Lesso Group (Cambodia) provide local resources, including campus facilities, policy coordination, and operational support. The three parties will align with the talent needs of Lesso Group and other Chinese enterprises in Cambodia, consolidate curriculum and faculty resources, and adopt a "packaged export" model to cultivate high-skilled local technicians, addressing labor shortages and enhancing the global influence of Chinese vocational education. Additionally, the college will conduct targeted short-term technical training for Lesso's Cambodian employees and local community members, equipping them with urgently needed practical skills. Our university will further export internationalized professional standards, curricula, teaching resources, and equipment to advance the standardization and modernization of Cambodia's vocational education system.
