From December 17 to 21, our university's Vice President Luo Dan led a delegation to Thailand, with the core mission of advancing the implementation of the "2+1" joint talent cultivation program and facilitating precise alignment of industry-education integration resources. The delegation engaged in in-depth consultations with Thailand's Chitralada Institute of Technology (CDTI) and Midea Group's Thailand factory, aiming to precisely match vocational education with industrial demands and inject strong practical momentum into the "vocational education going global" initiative.
At the tripartite thematic negotiation meeting, Khunying Sumonta Promboon, President of CDTI, and Vice President Santanee Phasuk, along with Li Shuzhen, Executive Director of the Thailand Regional Operations of Midea Group, Huang Yuan, General Manager of the Midea Thailand MKT Factory, and the delegation from Shunde Polytechnic University, conducted a precise alignment on the details of the "2+1" training program.
The delegation provided a detailed explanation of the training model: Students will spend their first two years at CDTI, completing "theory + practice" dual-track instruction based on Midea Group's Thailand factory equipment to solidify their vocational skills foundation. In the third year, they will transfer to SDPU and Midea Group's headquarters in Shunde for skill refinement, on-the-job internships, and graduation projects, achieving a leap in capabilities. Notably, this "2+1" joint training program will simultaneously promote the educational model and brand philosophy of SDPU's "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" in Thailand. Both parties will use the project as a carrier to integrate the spirit of "Lingnan Artisan"—"meticulousness, precision, and innovative excellence"—into the curriculum system, creating a craftsmanship training module tailored to Thailand's industrial needs. Regarding key issues such as project structure, teaching model confirmation, technical course and Chinese module development, student admission standards, Midea Group internship coordination, and cooperation contract terms, CDTI inquired one by one. The delegation clearly responded that they will establish a joint teaching team to build a "bridge" for curriculum continuity, leverage international resources to create an "energy station" for faculty development, and provide solid guarantees for the smooth progress of the project and the overseas dissemination of the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" idea.
Khunying Sumonta warmly welcomed the delegation. Luo Dan expressed that this collaboration is a pivotal move for our university's vocational education going global, and a significant exploration of the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" going abroad and empowering regional industries. Huang Yuan promised that he would inject abundant industry experience and internship resources into the project, helping to cultivate technical talents that meet industry demands and solidify the industrial foundation for the overseas training base of the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic."
After the negotiations, the delegation visited Midea Group's Thailand Air Conditioner Factory, Water Dispenser Factory, and Midea Group's Toshiba Factory. They conducted in-depth inspections of the production lines, R&D centers, and talent cultivation systems, comprehensively understanding Midea Group's overseas industrial technology applications, production layouts, and talent demand pain points.
The core consensus reached during this exchange is that all three parties will establish a joint working group, setting up specialized sub-teams for enrollment, teaching, and internship-employment coordination to regularly collaborate and drive the project's implementation and overseas cultivation work for the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic." This visit to Thailand not only clarified the implementation pathway for the "2+1" program but also established a "direct express" connecting vocational education resources with overseas industrial demands, injecting new momentum for the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic" to take root in Southeast Asia and cultivate high-quality technical talents in China and Thailand.
In the future, the university will continue to collaborate with CDTI and Midea Group to accelerate the implementation of the project and the construction of the overseas training base for the "Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic." With education and talent as the bond and craftsmanship as the core, we will weave a collaborative network for vocational education going global and industry-education integration, writing a new chapter in international cooperation in vocational education.
