2025-12-21 22:21
From December 17 to 21, Luo Dan, Vice President of our university, led a delegation to Thailand. Focusing on the implementation of the "2+1" joint talent cultivation program and the precise connection of industry-education integration resources, the delegation held in-depth discussions with Chalermkwan Institute of Technology (CDTI) and Midea Group’s Thailand factory. The talks promoted the precise alignment between China-Thailand vocational education and industrial needs, injecting strong practical impetus into the voyage of vocational education going global.
At the trilateral meeting, Khunying Sumonta Promboon, President of Chalermkwan Institute of Technology, Santanee Phasuk, Vice President, Li Shuzhen, Executive Director of Regional Operations of Midea Group Thailand, Huang Yuan, General Manager of Midea MKT Plant Thailand, and the delegation from Shunde Polytechnic University focused on the detailed implementation of the "2+1" training program.

The delegation elaborated on the training model: students will study at Chalermkwan Institute of Technology for the first two years, completing dual-track teaching of "theory + practice" relying on the equipment of Midea’s Thailand factory to consolidate their professional skills. In the third year, students will transfer to Shunde Polytechnic University and Midea Group’s Shunde headquarters for skill upgrading, internship and graduation projects, achieving a significant leap in professional competence.Notably, the "2+1" joint cultivation program will also support the localization of the education model and brand concept of Shunde Polytechnic University’s Lingnan Craftsman College in Thailand. Taking the program as a carrier, the two sides will integrate the spirit of Lingnan craftsmen—excellence, integrity and innovation—into the curriculum system, and build craftsman training modules that meet Thailand’s industrial needs.Key issues including program structure, teaching mode confirmation, technical curriculum and Chinese module development, student admission criteria, Midea internship arrangement and cooperation contract terms were raised one by one by CDTI. The delegation responded clearly that a joint teaching team will be formed to build a solid "bridge" for curriculum connection, and an international resource platform will be established to support faculty development, providing a solid guarantee for the smooth implementation of the program and the overseas promotion of the Lingnan Craftsman College.

Sumonta extended a warm welcome to the delegation. In his speech of thanks, Luo Dan stated that this cooperation is a key step for the university’s vocational education going global, and also an important exploration for the Lingnan Craftsman College to go overseas and empower regional industries. Huang Yuan pledged on the spot that Midea will provide rich industrial experience and internship resources to help cultivate technical talents meeting industrial demands, and consolidate the industrial foundation for the overseas training base of the Lingnan Craftsman College.

After the discussion, the delegation conducted on-site visits to Midea Group’s Thailand Air Conditioner Factory, Water Dispenser Factory and Midea Group Toshiba Factory. They inspected the production lines, technology R&D centers and industrial talent training systems in depth, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Midea Group’s overseas industrial technology application, production layout and talent demand pain points. This has collected first-hand materials for the curriculum optimization and internship arrangement of the "2+1" Program.

This exchange has reached core consensus: the three parties will establish a joint working group, with specialized subgroups for student enrollment, teaching, and internship & employment, which will collaborate regularly to promote project implementation and the overseas development of the "Lingnan Craftsman Academy".
This trip to Thailand has not only clarified the implementation path for the "2+1" Program, but also built a direct link between vocational education resources and overseas industrial demands. It injects new impetus into establishing the brand of "Lingnan Craftsman Academy" in Southeast Asia and cultivating high-quality technical talents between China and Thailand.

In the future, the university will continue to join hands with Gilada Technical College and Midea Group to accelerate project implementation and the construction of the overseas cultivation base for Lingnan Craftsman Academy. Centered on educational talents as the bond and craftsmanship spirit as the core, we will build a collaborative development network for vocational education internationalization and industry-education integration, and compose a new chapter in the international cooperation of vocational education.
